the nurses come in 2-3 times a day & use it… I love it! the baby’s HR is higher than urs.
Also I bought one of those bebe sounds things (they are NOT doppler) and was very very disappointed. To be honest it sucked! I heard no heart-beat and what noisess I did hear… I heard the same stuff when I put it to a pillow.

I just bought one from Target for $ 20 and it works well. It’s best if you purchase it when you’re around 22-23 weeks.

the babies is twice as fast.
Take your pulse on your neck while youre listening to the baby. Yours will be slower than the babies and the beats will not match up.
your pulse is usually about 90. the babies is usually 130.

Speed. The baby’s will be much faster. 130+ beats a minute. Give or take. Your is under 100 generally. Don’t get discouraged if it takes awhile to get a bead on the heat beat. Hard to find with the monitors that where available a few years ago. No where nearly as easy as at the doctor.

Dopplars are medical devices that use ultrasound frequencies, however they are much more powerful than ultrasounds and are more dangerous.
I have never consented to one being used on me, and you should not legally be able to purchase one.
Just buy a fetoscope, it takes a little longer to learn but works just as well with NO RISKS. Just make sure it is long enough to reach your belly.
You can tell your hheartbeat from the babies because the babies will be twice as fast, the placenta can also be heard going “whooooosh whooooosh”

I think they are just a waste of money after 4 months you can hear it on a regular stethesope I did it 3 or 4 times with my first then never again, I know my babies are ok and didnt worry about them.

I thought about renting one, but didn’t end up being able to afford it. It’s all up to you. The nice thing about having one at home is that you can listen to the baby’s heartbeat(and show it off to your friends and family) any time you want, instead of having to bring them in to the doctor or ultrasound with you. IF you can find one reasonably priced and you want it, go for it. The difference is that the baby’s heart rate is a lot faster than yours. Usually 130-160 i think.

yes, these are cool…you can tell the diffrence between your heartbeat and the babies by the heart rate. (the babies is faster and much louder when the device is placed on you abdomen.

The babies heart rate is much faster than yours. It is usually in the 130s or greater. If you have the money I would, than donate it to someone after the baby is born. But you really do not need. Kinda like Tom Cruise getting a ultrasound machine for Katie. Only not THAT expensive.

WHEN I WAS PREGNANT WITH OUR DAUGHTER WE GOT ONE AND IT WAS SOO COOL, MY HUSBAND LOVED IT, HE USED IT EVERY EVENING, ITS NOT AS LOUD AS THE ONE AT THE DOCTORS BUT YOU CAN STILL HEAR IT, I THINK WE GOT OURS AT WAL-MART. CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK.
