Is it normal for a doctor to not find a fetal heartbeat at 11wks 5 days with a doppler? ?

Mу doctor searched fοr mу baby’s heartbeat wіtһ a fetal doppler. I аm 11wks. 5 days pregnant. Sһе οחƖу spent аbουt 2 minutes looking fοr tһе hearbeat аחԁ сουƖԁ חοt find one. Sһе ѕаіԁ tһаt tһіѕ іt іѕ normal חοt tο bе аbƖе tο hear a heartbeat tһіѕ early οח. I аm still worried though. Hаѕ anyone еƖѕе һаԁ a similar experience?

What i do not understand is YOUR DOCTOR told you it was normal and you would rather take the opinion of strangers over you doctor? Yes it is normal. On an ultra sound no its not. But with a doppler it is because baby is so small.

I did!! I was 11 weeks 2 days and they couldnt find it. He said it was totally normally (especially since I have a tipped uterus) I had a scan wednesday and the baby looks GREAT! Growing perfectly on schedual and a strong 158 heartbeat!!

Yes, it’s normal. Heck I’m 19 weeks and they have a hard time finding it. The baby is very low in my pelvis and the heartbeat is often behind my pelvic bone. They pull it up on the ultrasound and it’s always fine.

Yeah that is common. For that reason my midwfie didn’t use the doppler until 16 wks. She didn’t want to worry us. Even then he was moving so dang much it was hard to find and listen too. I am sure it is all ok. Your baby is still so very small.

My doctor wouldn’t even try it until this week, which was 16 weeks. I heard it at 13 when I went for my ultrascreen, but my husband just got to hear it on Wednesday.

yes and no,I’m in the uk and if they could not find the heart beat you would be sent for a scan just to make sure everything is ok.
Some doctors use different methods to whether they are worried or not.

earlier in the pregnancy it is a lot harder to find the heartbeat because it is so small and it doesnt sound like your doc looked very hard for it. i wouldnt be worried unless your doc gets worried about it. the heart starts beating after about 4 weeks but remember your baby is still smaller than a lima bean. you will prob hear it at your next appt.

it is normal, but your doc should have performed an ultrasound for reassurance (to help ease your worries)…it’s easier to pick up (view) the heartbeat on an ultrasound at this stage than to hear it via a doppler. my doc didn’t even bother to use a doppler on me until my 13th week.

Good Luck and Congrats!

YES!! EVERY single time I have been pregnant I have had to go in for and ultra sound about 11.5 weeks because they could not find the heartbeat.
