Was sent home from hospital lastnight with contractions 4 min apart, is it true Dr wont break water now?

The Dr had given me a due date based off an irregular LMP-from IUD removal. All 3 ultrasounds have shown we are 2-3 weeks further along than the due date suggests. Dr says we are just 36 weeks today according to original Due date, but moved us up 9 days sooner at our 8 month visit. Based on the ultrasounds we put us at this week being our 38week. So Thursday I went into the office to get checked to see if I was dilating since I was have 4 contractions an hour all day, Dr said 0cm. So I went home, rested,& drank plenty of fluids.Yesterday, the contractions continued and were coming closer together, so when they were 5 min apart-my husband and I headed for the hospital. On the monitor I was having contractions every 2-4 min. They called the Dr on call(who was not a Dr in our practice) who wanted me to take 3 shots of turbaline or something to stop the contractions-we declined it, as it would increase the baby and my heart rates which we didnt want to chance. I was dilated to 1.5cm and feel that if the baby is ready then she will come. This is my 3rd baby and both my previous ones they broke my water in the hospital(1st 40 wks, 2nd-38wks) and I delivered in 45 min or less. The 3rd nurse who checked me before we were sent home told us that the Dr WONT break your water until 39 weeks now adays. What if you are having strong contractions and are dilating though? I have been having severe menstrual like cramping all night/day, lower back pain, still contacting, and my husband checked for dilation(he's no expert–and we took all proper precautions to prevent infection) but he could fit 2 fingers in my cervix today which puts me at about 3cm. Not sure when to go to the hospital now as I don't want to be sent home again. What do I do??????

Labor will change – you will get more uncomfortable and your cervix will start changing more rapidly in active labor and you will either rupture on your own or the doctor can do it once they know for sure this is the time. You're probably still in early labor if you were able to sit down and type this. You're probably very close. If you're still not sure but still contracting regularly less than 5 minutes apart, go back to the hospital and get checked again. Once you are 4-5 and contracting regularly they will have to keep you.

go to the hospital when you are ready hun!…if you are in TRUE labor the doctor HAS to break your waters!!….if your contractions are regular and productive and you are dilating they can not stop it!….therefore unless they try to make you birth your baby inside the sack they will BREAK your waters….what the nurse would have meant is that they WILL not induce your labor….(break your waters in order to bring on true labor)…dont worry and take walks around the block..have some sex….and let you body do what its doing!…you will see your baby soon!….xxxx
